Srinagar, January 18 (KMS): The whereabouts of a chemist, Manzoor Ahmad Dar, who was picked up by Indian troops, are still unknown despite the passage of seven years.

Bilquees, daughter of the chemist, said that in 2002 troopers of Rashtriya Rifles led by Major Kishore Malhotra barged into her house and asked her father to accompany them. She said they pleaded before the troops to leave him, as those days it was their modus operandi to kill people after picking them. “But, they dragged my father and bundled him in their vehicle and that was the last time when I saw him,” she said with moist eyes.

Srinagar: For eight long years, Bakhti has stoutly refused monetary compensation to silence her on the enforced disappearance of her son. She wants the truth, and punishment for the army officer who helped her son’s abduction.

For this ordinary villager from Trekpora in the Baramulla district, it has been an extra-ordinary decade, dominated by the memories of her son being beaten and dragged away before her eyes.

"India responded transition to non-violence with brute force"

Srinagar: Claiming that more than 14,000 people have lost their lives in Jammu and Kashmir from January 2002 to December 2009, the Jammu and Kashmir Coalition of Civil Societies (JKCCS), Tuesday said that transition to non-violence by Kashmir was disregarded and met with brute force by New Delhi.

Srinagar, Mar 10: (KONS) Gathering for the umpteenth time to shake an immovable government into action, the relatives of Kashmir’s numerous disappeared held their monthly demonstration here on Monday to demand the whereabouts of their missing loved ones.
Organized by the Association of the Parents of the Disappeared Persons (APDP), the cruelly mutilated families demanded a commission to be set up to determine the fate of their dear ones.
